As many of you know I had an appendectomy December 7. I just wanted to fill you in on what happened. I had stomach pains for a few days and it just kept getting worse. However Dalton got really sick and had to be on breathing treatments so all my focus went to him and I just didn't think about myself. Monday night Dec 6 Gavin got home from working at the coffee shop and Dalton just went down for the night and I kept sitting funny and holding my side. Gavin asked what was wrong and I just said my stomach hurts but it will go away... then he called my mom. He knew I wouldn't go to urgent care unless she told me to go. I am so thankful to have a husband and a mom to care about me when I don't seem to think about myself.
So we went to urgent care about 7 pm monday night. (our roommate Shawna stayed with Dalton) And the doctor told me it was probably my appendix but I had to go to the hospital to get a CT scan to make sure. I asked him if I could wait until the next day.. he told me I had to go and I had to go now because it could rupture... So off to the hospital that is about 30 minutes from our home and we sat in the ER for a few hours they did two CT scans and a sonogram to make sure that it was my appendix. I had a rare case because I wasn't vomiting and I had pain for about 5 days. (It usually comes on hard and strong so by the second day you are in severe pain). All that to say they checked us in around 4 am and we still weren't sure if they would take it out or not. The doctor in the ER wanted me to get it removed but only half of my appendix was enlarged where it is usually all enlarged for appendicitis.. This is probably more than you wanted to know but I thought I would share.
My nurse came in my room at 10 am and said it was time for surgery. So I had an apendectomy.
Gavin is an amazing man and I am so blessed to have him as my husband. Poor thing had his finals that week and a sick one year old at home doing breathing treatments and runs three ministries at church; but he stayed by my side every minute. My mom came in town on wednesday the day I came home from the hospital. She took care of Dalton while Gavin took care of me and worked and did school work.
The doctor that removed my appendix did say it could be a tumor or cancer since it was a rare case but majority of cases on your appendix is not a big deal. So he sent it in for testing. We got the results back and it was just appendicitis!!
I am recovering great! I just can't do heavy lifting for 6 more weeks.... my son is 32lbs and I am a stay at home mom........so Gavin still has to do alot for us. Everytime D wants to get out of his crib, in his crib, a new diaper or in his chair at the table or if he falls down and wants to be picked up.... Dad is the man. Dalton is getting use to it though he only asks maybe once a day for me to pick him up but I can still play with him and take care of most of his needs.
God amazes me daily and I saw friends and family step up where I couldn't. We had meals for a week provided, Shawna cared for my sick son while I was in the hopsital, my mom came and stayed with us... Thank you all! I am not sure what I would do with out you.
